Summary

Migrate a production MS SQL database server that was irresponsibly built on a RAID 0 disk array and has SMART errors daily for the last 6 months.

The Details

SMART errors across a RAID 0 LUN cause major corruption to several SQL databases. Built a new SQL 2012 BI Edition server on Server 2012. Detached and reattached a majority of the databases successfully. Created new SSIS packages with Integration Services and Created new Stored Procedures using the same code with new hostnames.
The migration was successful after pointing end users ODBC connections for their Access applications and setting group level permissions on each database using built in SQL roles.
